An internet connection is required for the Game Building Session activities.
Have the JR Game Building Session landing page open and ready on screen for the child.
Open ScratchJr on a tablet before the GBS begins.
The GBS tutorial should take 15-20 minutes of the scheduled tour.
If the child is a beginning reader, read the activity steps aloud and encourage the child to tap/drag the corresponding icons on ScratchJr.
If the child is an experienced reader, encourage the child to read through each step, and tap/drag the corresponding icons on ScratchJr.
Follow the steps on each page and remind the child to tap on the green flag to test the code after each step.
The final step of each tutorial offers a way for the child to share and present the project they created.
At the end of the tutorial, go over the "Closing Questions" to review the activity. Doing so will refresh the experience and encourage them to share the experience with parents/guardians after the tour.
Encourage the child to play the project multiple times and celebrate their accomplishment! If possible, invite the parents/guardians to play the project, too!
The project may be shared by creating a screen recording on the tablet or recording the child playing the project with another tablet or a smartphone.
